No! Since our recipes include freeze-dried and dehydrated ingredients, they require no refrigeration or freezing. Each Harvest Bowl is sealed and shipped shelf-stable so that it can be stored in your kitchen, pantry, or cabinet.
Yes! Artie Harvest Bowls are formulated to meet AAFCO standards and where appropriate, exceed them based on the direction of our Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist®.
It’s always a great idea to consult with your veterinarian before switching your pet to any new diet. All Artie Harvest Bowls are complete & balanced for adult dogs or cats, unless specifically designated for puppies. All diets meet AAFCO standards and where appropriate, exceed them based on the direction of our Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist®.
Artie appliances and Harvest Bowls are shipped in 100% recyclable cardboard. Each Harvest Bowl meal container is made with 100% recyclable paper with lids made of recyclable aluminum. The containers also contain a polymer (or plastic coating) so please check with your local recycling center as they may not be recyclable in your area. We hate the plastic coating and are working towards a compostable solution we hope to transition to in early 2024. All our meats/poultry are USDA certified and locally sourced. We formulate our diets to the strict standards of our Board Certified Veterinarian Nutritionist® and hold ourselves to the highest food safety standards - well above what is required by the industry. We are choosing not to pursue a "human-grade" claim at this time. We've done the research and found that most "human-grade" diets can claim no health benefits from doing so. Don't just take our word for it though, check out this article from Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine addressing the topic.
We are working toward full non-GMO certification for all our ingredients. Although we would love to claim this now, it is something we take very seriously, and we will not add a non-GMO label until we have a certified and verified source for every single ingredient so we can stand confidently behind that label.
Simply fill the water reservoir, insert your pet’s Artie Harvest Bowl, then press the button. The Artie appliance scans the bar code on the bottom of the Harvest Bowl then delivers a precise combination of steam and hot water to lightly cook and prepare your pet's meal. This “blooming” process unlocks the fresh flavors and natural aromas within each ingredient, while creating a mouth-watering broth your pets will love.
Cooking is complete in about 3 minutes and a melody plays telling you (and your pet) that your Artie Harvest Bowl is ready. Simply peel back the lid, gently stir the meal, and transfer it directly into your pet’s bowl to be served.

The Artie appliance is roughly the same size as a traditional coffeemaker and will take up approximately the same amount of space. Product dimensions are roughly 10” wide (from left to right), 11.5” deep (from front to back), and 12” high (from top to bottom).
With each Artie Harvest Bowl, the appliance will scan a barcode on the bottom of the container that ensures it delivers the right amount of steam and hot water to prepare the meal. After cooking each meal, you'll remove the lid and gently stir the ingredients before transferring the meal to your pet's bowl. This allows the meal to be served at the perfect warm serving temperature or Prey Temperature™ of around 100°F.
